Make up like a queen/ #IWANTTOSEEMORECOLORONMYTV

Hello Beautiful People,
Last week we had kingsday in the Netherlands. This inspired me to dress up and own that day like a queen and experiment with fabulous colors. I am also sharing my opinion as a carribean actress and my desire on more color on the TV. Yes I want to see more color on my dutch TV, on the big screen, the media, fashion and on Top! We live in a place with so many cultural diversity I want to see that reflected when I look at my TV or open up a magazine. Unfortunately this is not the case, after years and years of speaking on how to bring that change. I believe the change is only gonna come when we ourself rise up and start creating our own content/film/tv series/magazines and businesses. I want to see more black filmwriters, I want to see more black TV productions, I want to see more black filmmakers, I want to see more black actors and actresses in a tv serie or on the big screen. I want to see more black hosts on tv, I want to see more color on my TV. Woman of Purpose Interview Michelle David

Woman of Purpose

In 2003 I was introduced to this beautiful black woman. She came to give a singing course at the school I attended back then. She was confident, beautiful, wearing her fro like a beauty queen. Her voice was amazing, but her love, patience and kindness made it all complete. I was so inspired by the energy of this woman. We performed that year, we all graduated and I never saw her again, until 1 day. I was at a gospel event with people like Kirk Franklin. While I was singing and enjoying I saw this lady that I knew from back then on stage. It was Michelle David. I came home, I googled her and found her. Since then we stayed connected. She has been performing, creating and doing so much as an artist. She is a real inspiration to me. Without knowing she has shown me that heart and hard work eventually pays off.

Michelle is a gospel/soul singer, actress, tv, radio host, vocal coach, director and media producer. She is an all woman. She traveled around the world with different musicals and gospel shows like Mama, I want to sing, The Golden Gospel singers, The Sound of Motown, Mahalia and other great shows. She has been singing vocals and supporting singers like Diana Ross and Micheal Bolton. Since 2000 she is one of the beautiful ladies of Big Black and Beautiful. She also performs as a solo singer with the band Gospel Sessions. Michelle David & The Gospel Sessions. Keep your eyes and ears open cause Gospel Sessions Vol.3 is coming out very soon. Michelle David an all woman. A woman with a sound of inspiration, of life, of love and purpose.

2 or 3 years ago I heard this beautiful lady sing and sharing her testimony with only her voice and a boombox. I was at an event named soulconfession. I was there with my mom and a friend. We were all blowm away by her powerful testimony of faith and the creative concept of soul, food, storytelling and music night. Last Friday I got the privilege to interview her about faith, God, talents, gifts and her divine purpose here on earth. She really inspired me with words of faith and encouraged me to continue walking out my purpose. I have been blessed by her words, at and after the interview and I know she will inspire and encourage you too. 

Her name is Corey van de Nes. She is a bold, humble and creative woman of faith. She is a singer/ songwriter, TV/Radio/Event host and a motivational speaker. She is the face behind APOM. When I was in Los Angeles I had to record one of my poems in the Hollywood area. So I took my selfie stick and went outside, the sun was burning on my skin, but I couldn't leave the love of my life without introducing her to my passion. I had to combine those two together. The butterflies I feel inside each time I look at her beautiful sunset, the sound of the rhythm that becomes one with my heartbeat, the blush on my face by just calling her name. California you and I we have things thing going on. You rock my world. All my creativity and my ideas come to life when I inhale the energy of dreams and visions that God has blessed you with!

Sit down and count your blessings. Always remember the good times, it will strengthen you!

More Of You

More of You describes my thirst and hunger for more of God's presence. The more we seek Him, The more He stretches our mind and heart desires into the things that are above. What do we have if we have the whole world but don't have God? Nothing. We should never settle or be content with where we are with our walk with Christ. God is everlasting so in this life we will never figure out all of His goodness, all of His greatness, all of His love and all of His mercy. Our assignment and responsibility as Christians is to seek Him more and more so we can hear His voice and walk in alignment with Him, to complete the plan He has for our lives.

More of You came forth after prayer, or actually while I was praying with my face flat on the floor. I was in tears cause I was tired of me and myself standing in God's way. I was tired of reading about all the promises and not seeing it come to pass, or seeing just little victories. I know and have always known in the core of my bones that God is real. No theory God, but a true living God. If you have ever had an encounter with God, you know, that you know, that you know that God is for real. He will speak to you in a dream, through a person and even through non believers. God can, and will use anybody or anything to answer a prayer or to get to your soul.

The reason we can't hear him is because all of the distractions in life. Television, Social Media, Music, Work, School. We do so much nowadays that we get uncomfortable to be with ourselves. When it's still and quiet, and the only thing you can hear is your own heartbeat. We don't know what to do with it and turn on music. We get on social media, call or app our friends. Anything to beat the silence in and around us. And that is exactly what God needs. That we come to the child within us, that is willing, that is open, that is pure. He wants us to come back to the heart of worship. That doesn't mean God wants you to be perfect. He want's you just the way that you are. With all your imperfections and flaws, with your hurt, with your pain, with your anger and with your jealousy. He just wants you to come at His feet and lay it all down and that you surrender. Surrender to His plan, surrender to his will for your life. He that formed you in your mother's womb knew you before you were born. He who know's you better than you know yourself, He knows exactly what you need to be happy, to be whole and complete.

It's important for us as Christians to know that we cannot find our happiness in things, we cannot find our joy in things and we cannot find our purpose in things if we don't find ourselves in Christ first. In him we find our true identity. In Him we live, move and have our being. When we find ourselves in Him, he will show us the hidden gifts and talents that lives within us. In God we will find the keys to unlock the gifts and talents to our purpose. We won't find it outside God. Yes, you may find a good thing, but you don't just want a good thing. You want the things from above. By that I mean you can have good things, but everything has a season and will pass away. You want your God given purpose that will lead and bring forth life. That is the ultimate goal of being called and chosen by the Lord. God didn't call or choose us to be like the world, but to show and represent His kingdom. He called us to show His unconditional love and to share words of life. We have been called to be the light in the world, to be the salt of the earth. We have been called to be like Christ.
Many times we pray and ask God to use us in a mighty way. We pray for miracles, signs and wonders, but we don't want to spend time with him. Or we just have instant fast prayers, and I use to do that too. But there is a reason why Christ woke up at dawn to pray. We cannot expect to walk in God's power if we don't make time to work on our relationship with Him. I am not saying that I am perfect, cause I am not. I do know that if we want more of the great I am, we have to seek him more, pray more, and really hunger to become more like His son. Less of ourselves and more of Him. I came to this point when I got tired of me, myself and I, me living in my comfort zone, tired of trying things on my own, in my own strength. I really wanted to see, hear and feel God's presence more than anything. God said it in His word. He is the everlasting God. He who was, is, and is to come. So I knew for myself if I couldn't hear Him, If I couldn't feel Him, I had to do some self research. I had to surrender and lay it all down at His feet. And yes, the atmosphere started to shift, things started to change. He has been renewing my mind and I have been hearing His voice so much clearer and louder. I am so enjoying the presence of The Lord and where He is taking me. God has a plan for each and every one of us, but it can only be revealed if we stay close to Him. If we seek Him and stay in alignment with Him.

I want to encourage you, if you are feeling like God is not there. If you feel like He is not answering your prayers. Seek Him. Be honest to yourself and talk to him, just the way that you are. God loves us so much that He gave His only begotten son to die for this world. Keep your eyes on Him and seek Him above all. Cause what do we gain if we have the whole world, but lose our souls. Even Christians walk away from God and go into the world to seek for joy and happiness. Temporary solutions. Only in Christ, we will find everlasting joy and happiness. I just want to encourage you to stay close to God and continue to seek Him more and more through prayer, through fasting, by reading your word and worship. God will answer.

Gisteren stond ik om 05:00 uur op. Oke, om 05:15 nadat mijn wekker weer afging. Ik moest om 05:55 de deur uit. Ik probeer tegenwoordig de tijd wat slimmer af te zijn en heb mijn telefoon 6 min voorlopen. Of het helpt? Voor mij wel. Oke, soms :)

Dus in werkelijkheid was het 05:09. Ik moest om 09:15 in Groningen zijn.

Waarom? Een tijdje geleden poste ik een oproep van Women Inc op mijn Facebook pagina dat er vrouwen gezocht werden die geïnteresseerd waren in een training tot gespreksleider.

Voor wie Women Inc nog niet kennen. Women Inc is het netwerk voor alle vrouwen die zichzelf en elkaar willen versterken en daarmee de kansen van alle vrouwen in Nederland. Women Inc. Agendeert, versterkt, verbindt en biedt podium.

Zij organiseren verschillende trainingen en workshops voor vrouwen. O.a Hoe te netwerken, hoe te onderhandelen, ze zetten zich in voor een gelijkwaardige salaris voor vrouwen in verhouding met mannen met het zelfde beroep. Zo zet Women Inc. nog veel meer punten op de kaart bij de politiek. Ook het verlengen van het vaderschapsverlof hebben ze voor elkaar gekregen. Vanaf 2017 zal hier verandering in komen. Kort gezegd alle educatieve en maatschappelijke onderwerpen die van belang zijn voor het versterken van de vrouwenpositie en eerlijke rechten voor vrouwen in de maatschappij komen aan de orde.

Waaronder tafelgesprekken organiseren in heel Nederland. Waardoor dromen omgezet kunnen worden in het durven en doen. Het doel van zo een tafelgesprek is dat vrouwen met elkaar in gesprek gaan. En d.m.v doelgerichte gesprekstechnieken tot de kern komen wat er nodig is om hun gewenste doelen te behalen. Zo een tafelgesprek bestaat uit drie onderdelen. Het doel, Lef en Netwerk gesprek. Dit zijn de drie vaardigheden die je nodig hebt om de volgende stap te kunnen zetten. Je doel kunnen stellen, genoeg lef hebben om de stap te zetten, en de juiste netwerk hebben om de juiste vragen te kunnen stellen.

Toen ik deze oproep zag hoefde ik geen 2 keer na te denken. I always want to challenge myself to grow, to learn to go to a higher level.

Natuurlijk voelde ik kriebels in mijn buik, want wat hield zo een gespreksleider nou precies in? Er vlogen allemaal vragen voorbij? Wie waren al die andere vrouwen? Hoe groot zou de groep zijn? Hoe ga ik me voorstellen? Straks zijn het allemaal managers en leiders. En wat ga ik allemaal zeggen? Ik beheers geen vaktermen, ik praat gewoon zoals ik praat. En het laatste waar ik zin in had was nepdoenerij. Maar mijn verlangen, de drang om te groeien en voorbij mijn eigen grenzen te gaan is sterker en groter dan alle vraagtekens in mijn hoofd. Dit doet mij denken aan wat Tyler Perry een keer zei: When you have lost all your strength to push through, It’s your Faith that is gonna carry you through. Stilstaan, thuis zitten of in mijn comfort zone blijven is niet voor mij weggelegd. Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat, dat voor iedereen geldt. We zijn gemaakt om te blijven ontwikkelen als mens, wanneer we dat niet doen begaan we een geestelijke dood. Ieder mens heeft een visie nodig in het leven. Een reden waarvoor je leeft. Waarvoor je elke ochtend weer wilt opstaan en er tegen aan wilt gaan. We zijn niet gemaakt om als robots dag in, dag uit het zelfde te doen. Alles om ons heen veranderd, wij als mensen horen ook te groeien en te ontwikkelen. Ik zeg altijd het feit dat jij vanochtend bent opgestaan is een zegen. Dat betekent dat de missie op jouw leven nog niet volbracht is. Steve Harvey zei laatst in een interview dat de twee belangrijkste momenten in het leven zijn.

1. Het moment van je geboorte.

2. Het moment dat je ontdekte waarom?

Stof om eens goed over na te denken???  Waarom denk jij dat je hier bent?

Je bent hier niet alleen om een bevolkingsregister te vullen. Er is een reden waarom we hier zijn. En denk daar niet te klein over. Als gelovige ben ik ervan overtuigd en daag ik je uit om groot over jouw levensdoel na te denken. Wees niet bang om jezelf uit te dagen, om dingen te ondernemen die buiten je comfort zone liggen. Ook al begrijpt niemand om je heen hoe of wat? Het gaat het niet om wat anderen van je denken, mensen zullen toch altijd wel wat denken? Het gaat erom dat jij jezelf toestemming geeft om te ontwikkelen waardoor je blijft groeien als persoon, het gaat erom dat jij jezelf durft te zijn, 100%, het gaat erom dat je durft uit te reiken naar die getalenteerde unieke, krachtige en mooie vrouw die in jouw hart woont en haar toestemming geeft om te schijnen en te zijn wie ze is.

Tot slot: Ik ben nu officieel ambassadrice van Women Inc en bevoegd om een tafelgesprek te leiden. Binnenkort zal ik een oproep plaatsen waarvoor alle jonge dames en vrouwen zich kunnen aanmelden om aan tafel te schuiven. In zo een tafelgesprek gaan we in een groepje doelgericht een gesprek voeren om tot de kern te komen wat voor stappen jij moet nemen om je gewenste doelen te behalen.

Blog Challenge Day 7 - Spotlight Interview with an African Fashion Designer

Earlier this year I got this great idea. As a creative artist I knew how tough the road sometimes can be for creative people. I wanted to spotlight all creative, innovative, inspiring people and give them a platform to share their story online. Usually you only get to see interviews of those who already made it to the top! I wanted to interview the journey of those who are on their way to the top! I believe people get more inspired by the stories they can truly relate to. I know I get inspired by hearing stories from people that really had to fight to get on the top! People like Nick Vujicic   His story will definitely change your perspective on problems in life and inspire you to live and work with what you have to the fullness. This is what my friend Mariana Zinga does. She is a hard worker going to school and has 2 jobs. An investment cause she has a dream. Blog Challenge Day 5 - Crowdfunding!

Yesterday I was on the set the whole day. It was a long, hot day. But I didn’t mind, cause I was there doing what I love to do: Acting. While I was waiting on my scene’s to be filmed I had some great conversations with the people that were working behind the scene’s. I was talking about my career plans. That is how I ended up on talking about crowdfunding sources for creative, innovative and educational projects. That is the information I want to share.

As a creative artist I know you might have tons of ideas or projects you want to complete. You have the best ideas on how to change the world, how to eat healthier, a life changing app, you know that the idea you have is a million dollar idea. Or maybe you just want to do something good for your community or for a specific group. You wonder and wonder If you could only get the right people to see your vision. It may feel like your limited cause you may not know the right people that could help invest in your ideas. Well, I hope that these tips may help you a step closer in realizing your dreams.
Times have changed and with the changes in technology and social media, we have so much more and other opportunities to raise money for our projects and ideas. We are not dependent on banks and rich fathers anymore. There is a whole new world outside there. It calls Crowdfundings. Crowd what? Crowdfunding.
You may have heard it before, be familiar with it or know someone who ever used it. I know someone that raised up 10.000$ for medical reasons. I also know that here in The Netherlands it’s yet not so familiar as in The States, but it’s growing more and more. I myself am about to use it for my own Poetry&Talkshow project. There are so many crowdfunding platforms out there, I thought it would be nice to know which are the ones you should definitely use if you are planning to raise money with crowdfunding. These are crowdfunding platforms you can use for everything you can imagine. So check it out.

1. Kickstarter
Kickstarter is a fundraising platform for everything from films, games, and music to art, design, and technology. Kickstarter works with big and small projects. Any project is welcome, no matter the size. Since 2009, 9 million people have participated and raised up more than $1.8 billion, funding 88,000 creative projects. 2. Indiegogo
I personally like the website and the clear instructions you get from Indiegogo. I have put up my concept and will be launching it later this year. Indiegogo is also a fundraising platform for anything you could imagine. For education, medical, arts, sports, business, community, technology anything. They started in 2008 and millions of people have participated. It’s a great platform and I personally heard great successful stories from Indiegogo. Indiegogo

3. Crowdfunder
While I was doing researches on the best crowdfunding platforms I came across Crowdfunder. It’s a crowdfunding platform being used within the states. It’s a platform for  raising investment. There are great businesses, celebrities, organizations and even the white house investing in great ideas and projects for entrepreneurs. I read that this is the fastest growing platform where successful investors, invest in new upcoming entrepreneurs or any other creative idea's. I saw a short video clip where they were on Fox News.
So if you have a great business plan or idea step out and contact Crowdfunder!

A day out the Life of a Creative Artist

My hands are itching, my fingers are dancing ready to write a new post. The more I’m writing on what’s on my mind, the more I’m loving it! So many days I felt like I wanted to write and share something but then I had no Idea what to write about. And today I felt I’m just gonna share what’s going on on a regular day in my life. On my journey as a Creative Artist.

Well I have been doing all kinds of researches about creativity and innovation. Reading books, blogs, articles and so much more. I’m aware of the chainges in the artscene and that is why I continually ask myself what can I do to be different? What can I do to stand out? What can I do with my talents and gifts to make a difference in my community and in the world today?

One of the changes I want to see in the community I’m living in here in The Netherlands is more Cultural Diversity in the professional theatre and actingscene. I also want to help others where I can. I’m always out there giving advise, sharing information and encouraging others to fulfill there dreams. I’m not there yet, I’m on my own journey but I do think creative artists and entrepreneurs should help each other and learn from one another. The me, myself and I additude has to stop, it’s about we and us and how can we help eachother to become better in our profession.

So two days ago in the shower, How I love the shower. I love the hot/ warm water, the fragrance of soap and wash gel, I’m crazy about it. Especially fresh citrus, ocean, sweet and almond fragrances. From parfume to washing powder I just love things that smell good, but above all. I get the best Idea’s under the shower!

I think that is the moment we really relax, under the hot/warm water.

So I got a great Idea what I’m gonna work out and I hope It will inspire a lot of other creative artists. That is my mission. So stay tune.

• Singing praises to the Lord
• Reading my bible
• Writing a new poem at 5am on my phone
• Writing an essay about Cultural Diversity in the Dutch theatre and actingscene.
• Thanking for a link about a black stage play in theatres now, about black slaves.
• Writing a short scéne about stress at the workplace.
• Learning more about blogging
• Reading a book of Sir Ken Robison about finding your creativity back (TED speaker)
