Poetrybook: Visions Thoughts & Dreams

It's almost Christmas I'm giving my books away for 10 Euro

If you don't have a Christmas gift yet, bless somebody with this inspiring, faith based Poetry bookVisions, Thoughts & Dreams

Poetry book: Visions, Thoughts and Dreams/ Visies, Gedachten en Dromen. Is a poetry book written in English and also translated into Dutch. We all have our own journey and destination to go. Without a vision or a dream you are just living life to survive and that is not how life is supposed to be. God gives us a vision, thoughts and dreams to fulfill. He wants us to live life to the fullness. Storms, battles and mountains can put you on the wrong road in this life. With these poems and scriptures I want to encourage you to find your Visions, Thoughts and Dreams back.

For orders, send me a message and I will contact you :)

My Birthday

Last week, the 2nd of December was my birthday. I have been blessed with 35 beautiful and healthy years.
I celebrated my birthday by doing what I love the most. I celebrated my birthday with my mom at the spa. I enjoyed the Hamam, the massage, the food, drinks, the swimming and sauna. I always love to travel, and do something adventurous and spoil myself with my Birthday. I believe its good and important to celebrate that special day in your life. It’s good and gives you so much joy when you take the time to reflect over all the other years. When you learn to count your blessings and have a thankful heart, it does something to your inner being. It transforms you. You feel richer and you will be blessed with more. It was a wonderful and relaxed day.

I also got some beautiful presents from one of my closest friends, Elisa. She is an expert when it comes to house, design, fashion and style. She made these for me. A beautiful white vase with an African flavor and the beautiful inspiring words: I am a woman - Phenomally. And a beautiful bag with my own label: Visions, Thoughts and Dreams. That is what I do and stand for. Going around and inspiring others to follow their heart, their dreams and visions.

If you want to see more of her work, check out:

I love to see people standing up and following their hearts. Soon more to come from these beautiful and talented ladies.

I'm Facing you

I wrote a poem about facing fears. We all get to deal with fear in our life's.
We can run from it or face it. Don't let fear stop you from doing what you have been called to do. You have all that you need inside of you. Fear is nothing but a lie. Stand up, face your fears and be all that you were created to be.
If you like my poem, let me know, share or leave a post.

A day out the Life of a Creative Artist

My hands are itching, my fingers are dancing ready to write a new post. The more I’m writing on what’s on my mind, the more I’m loving it! So many days I felt like I wanted to write and share something but then I had no Idea what to write about. And today I felt I’m just gonna share what’s going on on a regular day in my life. On my journey as a Creative Artist.

Well I have been doing all kinds of researches about creativity and innovation. Reading books, blogs, articles and so much more. I’m aware of the chainges in the artscene and that is why I continually ask myself what can I do to be different? What can I do to stand out? What can I do with my talents and gifts to make a difference in my community and in the world today?

One of the changes I want to see in the community I’m living in here in The Netherlands is more Cultural Diversity in the professional theatre and actingscene. I also want to help others where I can. I’m always out there giving advise, sharing information and encouraging others to fulfill there dreams. I’m not there yet, I’m on my own journey but I do think creative artists and entrepreneurs should help each other and learn from one another. The me, myself and I additude has to stop, it’s about we and us and how can we help eachother to become better in our profession.
So two days ago in the shower, How I love the shower. I love the hot/ warm water, the fragrance of soap and wash gel, I’m crazy about it. Especially fresh citrus, ocean, sweet and almond fragrances. From parfume to washing powder I just love things that smell good, but above all. I get the best Idea’s under the shower!
I think that is the moment we really relax, under the hot/warm water.

So I got a great Idea what I’m gonna work out and I hope It will inspire a lot of other creative artists. That is my mission. So stay tune.

Other things I had to do and what I love too do:
  • Singing praises to the Lord
  • Reading my bible
  • Writing a new poem at 5am on my phone
  • Writing an essay about Cultural Diversity in the Dutch theatre and actingscene.
  • Thanking for a link about a black stage play in theatres now, about black slaves.
  • Writing a short scéne about stress at the workplace.
  • Learning more about blogging
  • Reading a book of Sir Ken Robison about finding your creativity back (TED speaker)

Well this was it for now, stay Creative, Innovative and always yourself

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing,

The journey continues

The last 2 weeks have been very very busy. As some of you may now I auditioned at RCTH theatreschool in August. Well 2 weeks ago we had our first presentation. We had to make a short presentation of 10 min of a stage play “What a beautiful day”!
While rehearsing we had people visiting to see how it all works at the theatreschool. The 2nd day we had to perform. A week later I had my poetryperformance about life, love and hope. It was a 15 min performance with acting and music in it.
The one that I liked the most was a piece I wrote a few months ago.  While participating in a mentor traject I won with Leonie Jansen. The title is I seek a man? In this performance I talk about all the things I seek for in a man :) I go through all the things we ladies do before we go out on a date and prepair ourself for that 1 special person that we want to, need to, gotta have. It was recorded so I hope to be able to post it on my blog very soon!

While prepairing and following my dreams, I’m also researching, going out on seminars, meeting up with other creative, innovative people. Finding, discovering what I can do, what I can bring with my passion, talents and gifts to the community and the world I’m living in. How can I be inovative? Times have changed and times continue to change. There are so many talented, gifted, educated people out there that cannot find a job, that cannot make a living of what they love to do. They are the best singers, the best actors, the best writers, the best (fill in 4 ureself). Because the market, the business, world economy have changed. I used to think I’m gonna work at a theatre or art organisation. Well I had to change that plan. Not because I lost my passion for theatre and art, no not at all, but a lot of the theatre and art organisations are closing, not hiring, due to financial crisis. Even the big ones out there. And this is happening with the whole art and culture scene, only those who are being innovative are the ones keeping there head on top! So I had to change plans and ask myself. Oke, what is it that needs to be change? What is it that the world needs today? How can I use my acting, poetry and organisationskills in a time like this? I still believe everyone can create his or her own job with that what has been given to him/her. We just have to flow and walk ahead of the changes in this world. We have to ask ourselfs what is it that the world needs? Where is there a problem and how can I bring a solution for that problem? What are people willing to invest in?

That is why I go out on business meetings, seminars, workshops to brainstorm with other like minded people. That is why I’m reading books and researching on topics like innovation, creativity, technology and social media. And I’m learning that there is a whole new world out there.
So tuesday I visited a business meeting from Rabo Bank. It’s a bank with a mission to invest in entrepreneurs that are investing in the community. This was a meeting to share idea’s and to see what we all can do to build up and make the community in Rotterdam stronger. A very interesting business meeting. I also met some other creative entrepreneurs and had a good talk with them. So I’m gonna meet up with them to brainstorm on new idea’s and see how we can help eachother.

I’m always in to brainstorm with other like minded people on how to be innovative as an artist in this world today. So if you have something on your mind or want to share something on this subject just let me know!

The road to achieve your dreams

As promised, I'm back with an article how to achieve your goals.
After you did you research, after you answered these questions for yourself. Who am I? Where do I stand for? What are your personal principles? Who do you admire? What am I passionate about? What are my gifts and talents? (The other questions you can read in the previous article about finding your life purpose)

After you’ve found out what it really is that you want to do? What you would love to do? What you would wake up for in the middle of the night to do it? Like me, I will wake up in the middle of the night or at dawn to write my creative words and idea’s down. I can be up in the middle of the night or travel 4 hours a day to work on my poetry/acting projects or to do research and read books about goals and dreams and how to be innovative and creativite in the world today. This is where I live for and I love it!
After that my first advice would be pray over it. I always ask God to direct me in all that I do. I now I need it cause I can be a control freak but at times I can be chaotic too. These are the moments when I have so many idea’s and I want to do them all at once!
But I have learned and I’m still learning to take one step at a time.

Let’s start
Write your vision down - start writing down that dream that you have that you want to achieve. Don’t limit yourself in space, money or time. Just write it down. I believe there is power in writing your vision down. I have done it and I have seen it working. Even God says it: write your vision down so you can see it and read it for yourself over and over again.

Be specific about what it is that you want to achieve - For example I want a job is not specific. Ask yourself? What kind of job do I want? How many days/hours do or can I work? Or I want a man? What kind of man? Dark or light? Long or short? age? With or without children? Be specific.

Ask yourself what is it that I need to get there - Make an A - B - C plan for yourself. You are not gonna get from A to Z. You need to make little steps. Work today to change tomorrow. For example: I want to make poetry/theatre productions.
I went back to school to learn more about making productions, to upgrade my acting and writingskills. This also helps me to create a new network and to stay updated about the latest developments in the theatrescene.
If you don’t have the time or the financians to go back to school to develope that skill that you need. There are other ways to get that education that you need:

Online free courses
  • saylor Academy provides academical tuition free courses. From fine Arts to Computer Science. They have it all. For more info:
  • edX Online courses from the worlds best Universities:
  • Academic Earth free online courses from top Universities:
  • There are many, many more online courses you can take just google them.
  • The library: The richest place on earth. Think about it, all that is made, all the wisdom, the knowledge that we work with is written and waiting in the library to be found and worked out.
So ask yourself what is it that I need to get from point A to B ……

Make short term goals and long term goals
In order to get to your long term goals you have to make short term goals. Also stay focused and don’t lose sight of why you are taking these classes. Do the homework you get, read the books you need because these are the little steps you need to get to your long term goals. Be patient and write or mark the goals you achieved. Don’t forget to treat yourself for your little achievements.

Set a deadline for your goals - make a time frame. In what time frame do I want to complete Step A. Step B. Step C……….
Be realistic about it. Don’t make a time planning to launch a bussines in 1 month, while you have never studied bussines or don’t know anything about bussiness. Also don’t be to hard on yourself if it takes a bit longer than planned. Don’t give up here, just make a new planning of time that you think you need to get to the next step. Think about the joy and happiness you feel everytime you achieved a goal and don’t forget to read your vision over and over. This will give you the extra boost to push through.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help, information or guidance
With every vision, with every goal you will come across mountains and giants. Obstacles, don’t be afraid or stop when these things happend. We all have them. Ask yourself what do I need to do to tacle this giant standing between me and my goal. If you can’t find the answer by yourself don’t be afraid to ask for help. The best advice I can give you is ask and learn from those who have gone before you. You don’t have to know or do everything by yourself. It’s impossible to know everything. There are a lot of people out there willing to help you or give you advice. If you don’t have them around you search for a helpforum online about that subject, or google it. That is how I get a lot of my information when I get stuck.
You may need financians think about sponsors, crowdfunding, you may need someone to create a website think about a ICT computer students, or make your own website or FB page. Get surrounded, search up that network, surround yourself with people that are also doing that what you want to do.

Don’t give up
Whatever you do, don’t give up. If you fall, lose sight or feel lost. You may even have to cry that’s oke? Let it all out and than get back up again. Cause yes, sometimes you may feel like you are in a rollercoaster ride going up and down. That is life! But whatever you do, don’t give up. What I do is feed my mind. I listen to uplifting, empowerment preachings like T.D Jakes, I listen to motivational speeches like Les Brown, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Harvey, Joel Osteen, Lyanla Verzant. I realise it all starts with the mind. I see it in my mothers life, I see it in so many other peoples life and I have experienced it. It all starts with our mindsetting. We are what we think, we achieve that what we think, Feed your mind with positive words, with positive people, always stay positive. So dream big, challenge yourself and step out.
Believe in that what God has placed in you, even if nobody understands or see your vision. And even if nobody has done that thing before that you want to do. It’s your vision. God has given it to you for you to work out. But it will only happen if you take action.

Believe in that what God has placed in you. Work today to change tomorrow!

Bijlmerpark Theatre

Upcoming friday 7 and saturday 8 November @ Bijlmerpark Theatre me and other great poets will be sharing some of our latest works. Be there! I will be talking about love. Here is one of the poems that I will be sharing.

The Beauty of a woman

Once I gave my heart away to a man who didn’t know how to appreciate love. At the end he gave me back my heart, broken and full with scars. I was walking around in circles, going back and forth trying to put the pieces back together. But just like a mirror, once it is broken the scars will always be seen. Until I met my Father and He decided to give me a new heart. And taught me some words of wisdom:

I made every woman like a queen, to be treated as royalty; I gave every woman the wisdom and the knowledge to think and to teach generations to generations that a woman has the strength to stand on her own feet. Not to be depended upon or desperate for the love of any man, because love and life come from me. A woman is made to be treated with dignity and respect. Not only in the beginning when things are always fun, when he spoils you with diner by candle light, with cards and roses but also in those times when there is rain and storm.

So to every woman give yourself the time, because he can be here today and try to walk away the next day. If he is worth it he will appreciate and give you your time. And if he is the one he should love you fulltime, over time, all the time. Just like my father said, you are a queen and should be treated as royalty and don’t settle for anything less!

Finding your life purpose

The number one question of people all around the globe is? What is my purpose in life? Do I know why I'm here?
statistics says that 90% of people are not happy with the work that they do? People often feel trap cause they work for a paycheck and can't find joy and true happyness in life and in what they do for a living. The work that they do does not complete them and/or define who they are as a person.
All around me I see so many people working on a job that doesn't meet up with their potentials. They are miserable with their work, they don't love it, there is no challenge, they can't grow and they feel stuck.
Looking back at my own school years I feel like the system prepairs you to get ready for a job that they think is good for you. They are not looking at you as a person with your own qualities and help you form to become the best of you. You really have to have a self awareness of who you are and what you want to be in this life, or else the system is gonna be the one to form you into their image of what they want you to be.

I love to talk with people about finding our purpose in life. I know exactly how it feels to work at a place that does not meet up with your potentials, I know exactly how it is when people try to place you in their boxes. I know exactly what it is and how it feels when you know inside yourself you where created to do so much more and you are still running that race to get free from a system that tries to keep you down. That is why it is so important for you to know who you are and what you where created to do? Next to my Faith this is where I hold on to when I feel life pressure coming down on me. Cause it is one thing to know your purpose, but it is another thing to walk in your purpose. Don 't be discourage when it's not going the way you hoped it would be. The bigger your purpose, the bigger the challenge, but also the greater and bigger the joy and fullfilment. I believe God doesn't give us more than we can handle. He will strengthen you, He will guide you, He will comfort you on your journey. You owe it to yourself to live your life to the maximum cause no one else is gonna do it for you. If you won't take the step to live and work for your own dreams, you will always be working and living to fullfil someone else's dream. And in order to walk in your purpose you have to know who you are?

I have been reading, researching, listening and praying about life purpose and walking in my calling over and over again. I'm not there yet, but I have always known that there is so much more inside of me, so much more than what teachers and others said about me. I am more than the work that I do. This is not only for me, it's for you too. No matter in what stage of life you are. God has placed greatness in each one of us. And it's never to late to take that step to find out your purpose in life. If you woke up this morning it means you still have a purpose in this life. I love what Joel Osteen and T.D Jakes say in their preachings: If you can't get there running, you walk, If you can't get there walking you crawl, but whatever you do, do something. Even if you have to fail your way to succes never stop or give up!

Here are some helpful keys I want to share with you about finding your life purpose:

  • Know who you are?
  • What touches your heart?
  • What and who do you love?
  • Who do you admire and why do you admire them?
  • What are you deeply committed to?
  • What do you stand for?
  • What are your personal principles?
  • When are you at your best?
  • What is giving you the greatest feeling of importance?
  • What makes you really angry?
  • What is it that you definitely don't want to do in life?
  • What are the things that you vallue the most in life?
  • What are your gifts and talents?
  • What did you love to do as a child?

I hope these helpful keys will help you in your journey of finding out your life purpose? After you have found out who you are, why you are here and what you represent you can start making plans and goals to walk out you life purpose. "I will be talking about that in the next topic"

I know for myself who I am. I'm a woman who loves God, who loves acting, writing and poetry. My heart goes out to young girls and woman. With the passion that I have for art I want to make a change. I want to make a difference in building up selfesteem. I want girls and woman to be aware that they are more than sexual objects, that they are more than a piece of meet, that they are more than a one night stand. I want them to know that they are more than what the world projects on them. I want to go around the world with my own creative poetry/theatre productions and inspire them to reach higher, higher than what they have been thought or have seen, to dig deeper and not to settle for less than Gods best for their lifes.

"Do what you love to do and don't be afraid to be different".

The Journey of a Creative Artist 2

So I just woke up after a late night poetry class yesterday.
I  have been participating in a program called talentlab at Bijlmerpark theatre in Amsterdam. It has been a tough rollercoaster year with ups and downs but we are almost at the finishline. Yes there were some giants I had to face. It wasn't easy cause those giants had me questioning myself and my talents over and over again. I am a perfectionist and what I do, I want to do it better, I want to be the best, I want to be the best of the best in what I do. Is that a bad habbit? Maybe, sometimes.

Sometimes cause it reacts on my enemy frustration and it can take away all the fun out of learning. But on the other hand shouldn't we reach out to be the best in what we do? They always say, don't settle for where you are but always reach out for higher. And that is what I do. I may be the only one experiencing this but I feel that as an artist as a performer I cannot survive being just good or an average. It's like the law of the jungle, only the strongest survive. After being part of this world now for 34 years I can say it's not only the law of the jungle, but also the law of the world. You have to have backbones to make it in this world. I do believe we all have those backbones or else we wouldn't be here today. The fact that we woke up this morning says we have backbones. In my proces of 34 years I can also say that talent alone won't bring you succes or bring you to your destination. The most important question is are you prepaired and determenid? You can be as good as you want to but if you are not determined you won't get any far.

Yes, I have my seasons when I have all the creativity in the world, when I feel that I'm the best and that I can tackle every giant. Yes even Goliath. But I'll be honest I can also have some dark and cloudy seasons. When I have no inspiration, I can't write, I can't think of anything creative, I can't move and all I just want to do is fly, fly away from everything. For me as a artist not having any inspiration, having a writersblock or not being able to create is one of the most painful parts. It makes you doubt yourself as a artist, it steals away the air that you need to breath to make you feel alive. The only thing that I can do in these moments is pray, pray and pray. Here is where I realise that my own creativity and strength is limited and I just let God be God.
Then inside of me this small seed with the size of a mustard seed keeps on pushing and pushing this faith through me. It picks me up and pushes me forth to keep on going. It shows me that there is still so much that hasn't been said, still so much that hasn't been written and still so much that hasn 't been done. These are the moments when I realise that every voice, every sound, every idea matters. And that there are so many voices and talents out there that don't speak, that don't say a thing. They are just there minding their own bussines or adding nothing uplifting to the platform.

As a believer I do believe we all have been given talents according to our own ability. And that we have to use, no matter the size of what has been given to us. We are called to shine our lights in this dark world. That's why I'm also determined to use and take out all that God has placed in me. Just as Les Brown qoutes: Die empty, don't die and take all your dreams and talents with you. I believe, I know that I have been created by a Great God and that there is greatness inside of me. Knowing that I'm in a process, on a journey gives me peace. Too many times I required of myself to know it all, to do it all and to have it all. But life is teaching me that, that is not the way it works.

It's about:
"              " Family
"              " Friends
"              " Learning
"              " Getting up
"              " Daring to make mistakes
"              " Daring to be different
"              " Learning to appreciate

It 's about Life!

The Journey of a Creative Artist

I often wish I was smarter, wiser. That I had more creativity, so I could create more, do more, stand out more and achieve more? As hard as I try to stay positive in difficult times, I have my weaknesses. Im a poet and an actrice. But I haven’t gotten that Hollywood assignment yet, so can I call my self a professional artist? Even though I have my degrees and created my own theatre and poetry projects?
I dont like the name amateur, cause that would label me as if I’m not good enough in my craft. It’s hard to be a creative artist in the world today. In a world where only the best of the best of the best seem to be acknowledge and stand out. But what happends to the second or the the third best creative artists?  Doesn’t every creature has his/her own uniqueness, something to share, something of value to add to this world. Or do they just dissapear into the storms of life? I really would like to hear more stories how other creative artists dealed with faillures and dissapointments in their lifes. Steve Jobs, Masterclass is a book I would recommend to everyone with a passion. The book doesn’t only share his story but lots of other encouraging stories of people who failed their way to succes. I always hear and read about succes stories but what about the seasons of life when all ods are against you?  What do you do when life isn’t going the way you hoped, planned, or expected to go?
I continually ask my self questions about life? Who am I? What is my purpose in life? What defines me? I know my name. I know what I’m capable of. I know my dreams and desires. I know my strengths and my weaknesses. But yet still I often feel like I have absolutely know Idea where this rollercoaster called life is taking me as an artist? It frightens me, cause it comforts me to know where I’m going? You can consider me as a controll freak. Its my safety zone, knowing where im going? How im gonna get there? What tools do I need to get there and when will I get there?
These questions continually dance around my head. In the morning when I rise untill the moon closes my eyes. When I look back I see, I have been carrying these questions with me for ever. I always knew exactly what I wanted to be? What I was gonna study? Which schools to attend? How much money I was gonna need and when I was gonna get there? But it seems like life tries to teach me some VIP lessons. I cannot control everything, after prepairing and doing my part I have to trust and let go. I have to have faith, that the seeds I’ve planted along the way will come to pass. Even though I want to be able to controll it all! I don’t have the final say. Sometimes life catch you with unexpected suprises. You study social arts by the time you graduate the government cutt of all creative and non- profit organisations due to economic crisis. You plan to get married with the love of your life, then to find out he has been cheating on you. You worked all of your life and now it’s time to enjoy your retirement, you find out you are terminally ill. Or maybe you’re planning to have children and now you
can’t have none. We live in an unpredictable world. All of this influenced the way we think, the way we act and the way we live our lives. And sometimes we lose ourselfs in it, we forget to focus. I admit that in different seasons of my life I’m in a battle between the mind and the heart. My heart says love what you do? My mind says It’s not good enough. My heart says you never too old, my mind wants to make me believe that I should have allready achieved my goals. Im 34 and my biological clock is ticking, I have no partner my heart says yes and my mind says no.
I guess this is what the bible means about faith when it says “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” It means having a vision, an idea, a project, something that cannot be seen or touch in the natural, but is allready reality in your spirit. ” As a person as well as a creative artist we cannot give up on that what is inside of us. Each and every one of us has been given a special seed and a vision in life to complete. You cannot have people, friends, family, society, the government anybody defining who you are, or who you are supposed to be. We as artists have to stay true to ourselfs. The journey of an artist isn’t always, I would say never easy. We get to deal with high and low mountains, big and small giants. But it is in these moments, in these storms after the labor, where artists will find themself, their own uniqueness and strength to give birth to a new piece of artwork.
Remember these lines when life’s rollercoaster tries to bring you down:
  • Steve Jobs got fired from his own company in 1985 when he thought he lost everything he lived for, he gave birth to a new dream that would change the whole entertainment industry: Pixar was born.
  • James Dyson, the inventor of the vacuums failed 5126 before he had accomplished his bilionaire idea.
  • Chris Gardner multi miljonair/ The pursuit of happyness worked for unpaid internship and lived on the street for a year with his little son.
  • Walt Disney was fired by a news paper editor because he lacked imagination and had no ideas. He went bankruptcy and failed before he found a recipe for succes that worked.
  • Tyler Perry film/stageplay director and producer, produced his own stageplays for 7 years in a row for only 30 people. Family and friends. He now owns his own filmstudio, movies, sitcoms, books and stageplays that are seen all over the world and at Oprah Winfreys Network.
Dare yourself to dream big and work towards your goals day by day!

Poetrybook: Visions Thoughts & Dreams

Up to heaven

Peaceful is the mind, Thoughtful is the heart the road of beginners
The stareways up to heaven we reach out to when the shadows of fallen stars come down. Mysterious we dance around seeking to find our lost steps back in the race.
